The Ghosts

The FA Cup began at

Sunny Clipbush Park,

And it was not long before

Ghosts were off the mark!

Although, Ely, to be fair

Should have been ahead;

But, after a golden gift

Puffed well wide instead!

Minutes later Guyton was

Hacked down in the box:

Up steps Jordan Attree, and...

The stadium rocks!

Chances after this were slim,

A Robins free-kick

Curled in - but dipped just too high,

The strike, though, quite slick!

In the second, Ely would

Attack; gain control;

But the finishing was tame -

Most shots missed the goal!

Crossbar (from a corner) pinged

Through an Ely head,

And Robinson for the Ghosts

A great chance would shred!

Braino danced through players with

Much ease, some sweet skill

Was displayed, but overall

This game was not brill!

It was rather bitty, and

It was clear to see

Why the visitors have now

Lost three out of three.

At the death big Attree should

Have scored number two;

A free header six yards out

At the keeper flew!

Not the best performance, but

Ghosts fought their way through.

Higher league side Bury Town

In next round are due.

Clipbush Park - late August

Amid Summer drizzle,

Ghosts hoped that their FA Cup

Run would not out fizzle.

Bury started quickly and

On 15 - the bar

Rattled; Coombe tipped a free-header

Which was under par.

Ghosts were living dangerously

Target, though, was missed,

Before the Blues were denied

By the lino's wrist!

Up his flag, with lightning speed,

Whizzed; Bury Town fumed

As the zippy passing on

The wet pitch resumed.

The hosts caught Blues on the break:

Mason's shot flew high,

And, on half-time - Bury, the

Ghosts would terrify...

Mason's sleek ball down the right

Put big Attree through;

But with the goalie to beat

There would be no: "BOO!"

Wide it flashed and once again

A fresh Blues attack

Was snuffed out by Beazer, who

Bossed play at the back!

In the second, Fakenham

Began sharp and bright;

Higher league opponents did

Receive quite a fright!

Chances still were far and few,

Coombe made classy saves,

From the ever breaking strong

And fierce Bury waves.

As time played on Ghosts showed fight:

For each ball they'd battle;

And, the semi-pro side they

Were starting to rattle!

From close-range on 67

Coombe superbly saved,

But - the loose ball nodded home;

Bury's path was paved.

Sadly for the hosts there would

Be no coming back;

However, on Tuesday they

Can get back on track.

It's the league leaders, away

Wroxham by The Broads;

A team who are banging goals

In each game: in hordes!

Even with key players out

Fakenham were serried;

Their cup dream may now be dead

But, they're far from Bury'd!

Trafford Park - beneath the lights

Amongst Summer rain

Ghosts would try to stop the hosts

Scoring tonnes again!

Fakenham were organised

Chances - sparse and tough;

No high-line this time would help

Wroxham "do their stuff!"

Right on half-time - taken quick

Clouded with great doubt,

A free-kick found Miles, who

Past Coombe - fed the drought!

It was controversial, and

Caused noise to erupt,

His flick would, for Cunningham,

Half-time talk - disrupt.

In the second, Ghosts pushed up

But - few chances grew;

And - on 65 - young Miles

To the wet turf: flew!

Harsh! But what a cracking pen

Into the net's roof;

Joe Taylor is a class act -

Fans need no more proof!

Ghosts made subs and battled on

Coombe made saves - top drawer

Until, from a corner kick

Huckerby would score.

His header - a bullet, then

Miles dashed through and: crack...

A fab strike did make it four...

The net it did smack!

Wroxham were the better side

And deserved the win.

4-0 was harsh, but Ghosts will

Take it on the chin.

Local derby,

Could the Pedlars

Spoil the party...

On 4 - Watts charged through and CLIP!

In on goal was he;

Just a yellow slithered out

From the referee.

No clear chances in the first,

Ghosts' efforts flew high,

And Swaffham looked weak up top:

Bottom - that is why!

On 62 Watts played in

Super Callum Brain,

Who nipped past JJ in goal

And the lead they'd gain.

But, three later, Swaffham did

Through Yates equalize:

A neat low strike to the right;

They would not capsize!

In fact, they pushed up for more

(A pen shout - turned down),

But there was no break handed

To the Breckland Town.

Ghosts - determined for three points

Kept plugging away;

And on 92 a second

Goal would fall their way!

Dickinson's touchline free-kick:

Nodded back by Youngs...

From two yards out who was there

To work yellow tongues?!!

Ashley Jarvis poked it home,

But - drama then peaked...

Swaffham's keeper came up for

A corner - then shrieked!!!

Wengrzik ran through - empty net

Was asking to be

Tickled, Karol though - with force

Taken down was he!

Ref - bizarrely, once again

Withdrew just a yellow;

And, after a brief melee

Atmosphere would mellow!
